“Our LG managers gained many useful lessons from your practical DT approach. Your several Train the Trainers workshops were exceptional and had such creative energy! I’m thrilled that you’ve had the chance to visit us in Korea for several years now. Come back soon!”

— Jaeyoung Chung, Vice President, Leadership Academy, LG

A Random Encounter

It was 2012 during a cold winter night in Western Sweden when Dr. Jae Ho Park struck up a conversation with a team of NTNU innovation professors. Dr. Park, one of Korean’s top innovation and leadership scholars and corporate trainers, was interested in using the power of empathy to develop innovative products and services for his clients back home. The chat eventually gravitated towards design thinking, which led them to contact the Pracademy team.

The Invitation

Dr. Park and the Pracademy team engaged in a couple of exciting phone conversations where our interests and ambitions overlapped. It wasn’t long before Dr. Park invited us to visit him in Seoul in the spring of 2013. He suggested we lead a design-thinking workshop for LG in Korea. We took him up on his suggestion without realizing how transformational this relationship would turn out to be.

A Solid Relationship

Fast forward seven years and Dr. Park is now an integral part of the Pracademy team. Since this first invitation, furthermore, Pracademy has established a solid training relationship with the LG Corporation, which quickly noticed the power of design thinking. This global technology corporation invested significantly in our training programs, inviting us to train their top corporate trainers at their Leadership Academy in Seoul for several years now. Each of the trainers we interacted with has the responsibility to train thousands of managers at LG’s many business units. These seasoned innovation practitioners demonstrated a tremendous curiosity, which they are currently transferring to their colleagues across Korea and abroad.

Toward the Future

Since this initial contact, Pracademy has visited Korea five years in a row with the goal of transferring design-thinking tools and mindsets to LG’s forward-looking industry leaders. We are excited about the impact they are having on the world through their game-changing technological solutions, and feel honored to be a small part of their continued expansion and growth.
